In my articles, I have always tried to encompass a glimpse of the arts, as I have always, as an artist, related to beauty in all its forms.
Perhaps my thirst for exploring countless fragrances has swept me into a carousel of emotions and restless anticipation. Yet, at the core of every olfactory discovery, there has always been a profound desire: the experience of witnessing how beauty reveals itself in my life. For years now, I have instinctively associated scents with materials and textures, places, landscapes, architecture, paintings and painters, music and composers, writers and their words—poems, novels, photographers and their frames. Everything, absolutely everything, intertwines in my mind with a scent!
Because within me, and for me, a fragrance never arrives alone. It comes with an emotion, a gift that I receive. To keep that emotion alive, I weave artistic connections and breathe life into it with affection, allowing it to settle deeply into my heart and soul.
And so, in this profound quest for arts and aromas, I found a brand that aligns beautifully with my style, with who I am.
As a writer, poet, photographer, someone who loves to paint, to dance, and who adores music, the Spanish niche house Genyum has completely satisfied this hunger for knowledge, this union of art and perfume. Genyum is a niche house based in Barcelona, Spain—and you already know that Barcelona is one of my soul cities. Their perfumes act as a bridge between art and scent, a bond you can fully unlock once you discover your own artistic and creative side.
One very important thing to know is that their fragrances are vegan, friendly to nature, animals, and the environment, but also incredibly gentle on our skin!
The bottles are minimalist yet artistic, simple in their complexity, drawing you in with clean, fine lines and the wonderful concept of celebrating art and the artist through a single aroma.
I have loved dancing since I was a little girl. For as long as I can remember, I’ve walked on my tiptoes—so much so that many people have told me I have the gait of a ballerina, even though I’ve never taken a single dance class. But dance lives inside me. I feel the rhythm, the music; I vibrate in dance steps and I can never truly stop. Dance, just like poetry and painting, are parts of me to which I give a voice and a shape, allowing them to express themselves freely.
Ballerina by Genyum fascinated me through this very leitmotif of dance as a form of artistic expression. I chose it knowing perfectly well that it would press itself against my soul—right in that tiny space between the soul and the heart, where all my loves and all my desires fit.
Ballerina is one of the most beautiful powdery rose fragrances. Because it is delicate, diaphanous, and romantic, it feels like pink silk gently settling over your body, light as a feather. It envelops you, caresses you, and embraces you, whispering in your ear just how special, beautiful, and feminine you are.
It is a sublime fragrance because it carries a profound dose of elegance, refinement, and delicacy. Yet, at the same time, it reveals the nuances of a free spirit—a creative soul that knows no boundaries or limits. It is the soul of an artist who loves, longs to be seen, longs to grow wings and soar as far into the sky as possible, only to return with a heart and soul overflowing with beauty and flight!
The fragrance opens with juicy notes of blackcurrant—sweet yet beautifully tart. Almost immediately, a delicate, sweet, and intensely fragrant pink rose makes its presence felt, reminiscent of a garden rose softening into a velvety, powdery embrace of iris.
Many people have told me, "Iris has no scent." Well, it is time to tell you a secret: iris does have a scent—a floral, fresh, powdery aroma, sometimes with subtle earthy facets. But to truly smell the iris, you must pierce into its very core, because that is where the essence lives, not within its petals.
The base of the perfume is warm and ambery—a simple foundation that roundedly embraces the fragrance's three core notes.
I adore simple fragrances crafted from just a few ingredients, those that remain luminous and airy, yet are simultaneously complex, sophisticated, and masterfully composed. That is exactly what Ballerina is: a classic, simple, and timeless beauty. It belongs to a free, pure soul—a soul that carries flight and beauty right in its heart.
The perfumer behind this creation is Jordi Fernandez, whom I deeply appreciate for many of his works, but this is the one that suits me best.
Ballerina is a manifesto for beauty, delicacy, and femininity, yet at the exact same time, it is a fragrance of true personality and strength—that creative force that gives you wings to fly and achieve your dreams!
