Under the moonlight
the kiss turns
into a perfume.
haiku, Nela Dinescu, 2025
When perfumes transform into mystery, into pure emotion, into moments that cannot be forgotten, but only embraced, adored, revived—again and again and again!
When perfumes whisper to you of dreams and grand aspirations, of a love lost and then found again, of a stolen kiss you long to relive—again and again and again!
These are the moments that make up life; these are the moments that bring you to life, that animate and enliven you, whispering in your ear:
"Moments do not leave, my dear; moments remain for eternity."
But for that, you must enter your soul and seek those emotions to awaken—and how else can you do that if not with the help of a perfume?
There are perfumes with a soul, and perfumes to which you give a soul.
But how can you tell the difference between the two?
Perfumes that have a soul are those perfectly aligned with your desires, with your emotions, promising you unforgettable moments together. You recognize them from the very first spritz, and you know they are "love at first sniff." They are those perfumes that make you smile, that make you merge with their aroma—to be yourself, but with something more.
The perfumes to which you give a soul are those that, by wearing them, you endow with value, memories, and emotions, even though they might not have been to your liking from the start; you didn't resonate, and it was by no means a coup de foudre amoureux.
But here is why I wrote this introduction. Because I bought a perfume blind, based solely on its notes. I knew I would like it, but I didn’t know just how much! It seemed like the kind of floral, perhaps slightly vanilla-leaning fragrance.
But it enchanted me from the very first spritz. And no, don’t think for a second it's because of the name—Bewitching Kiss—no, no. It is simply because of its unearthly beauty.
I merged with it on an evening with an almost full moon, as the moonbeams illuminated my freshly scented skin. My first thought was, "what an unearthly beautiful night," and in my ears, Clair de Lune was still solemnly echoing. When I raised my wrist to take a breath of it, it was the perfect moment. That pure sensation of bliss, of reverie, and of pleasure!
Bewitching Kiss cast its spell on me from the very first second; it was love at first sniff. Because it isn't just a vanilla floral—it is so much more than that!
The opening is almond-like and creamy—I could even say I detect the scent of creamy lipstick, of powder, and of sweet, velvety, vanilla-infused makeup. I adore this type of lipstick and powder scent; it feels so diaphanous, so graceful and feminine, that it effortlessly steals a smile from my face!
It opens with bright, juicy floral-fruity notes of bitter orange, orange blossom, and blackberry, alongside which quiet notes of licorice and currant find their place. The heart of the fragrance is floral, composed of almost translucent notes of jasmine and a delicate rose, as fine as pink silk. The base of the perfume is so creamy, smooth, velvety, and sweetish that the other notes sink into it like a fine, ethereal, transparent powder that radiates sweetness, tenderness, and delicacy!
Vanilla, sandalwood, heliotrope, tonka bean, musk, and cedarwood—what delicate notes that whisper in your ear of femininity, grace, and radiant beauty.
Bewitching Kiss is that baiser volé—but not just any stolen kiss; one like the secret of a shy, perhaps youthful love, a love that is just dawning and gently, slowly blossoms as emotions finally allow themselves to be and souls vibrate in unison. A candid yet graceful kiss—a grace you only encounter in true loves—where that initial shyness merges with the passion of a night you never want to forget, a night you want to keep in your soul for eternity!
Under the moonlight, you are enchanted by your lover's kiss and by the candor of the perfume, which will evoke these priceless memories for years to come!
